The veteran major league outfielder who is admired by
baseball fans around the world has announced this Friday that he is going to
say goodbye to the game right after the 2014 season comes to an end. The Bobby
Abreu said in a press conference that he is extremely thankful to all his
supporters and fans who have helped him stay good in the game. He also thanked
all his teammates and manager Terry Collins. He kept remembering Collins who
was also his first manager when he debuted with the Astros back in the year
1996.
Bobby also showed contentment towards his career and said
that he feels that he’s blessed. He also added that each and every one of us
has some goals in life which we struggle for and for me, I have set my goals
and I feel so blessed to have achieved them all. The great sportsman and
baseball player Abreu also said that he would be retiring from the league with
a heavy heart however he wants his fans to remember him always. Collins his
ex-manager said that he knows Abreu since he was only eighteen years old.
Collins also added that he has been around with a plethora of professionals in
his career but there wasn’t anyone of Abreu’s caliber.
Another statement by the great Collins that impressed
millions of baseball fans is that he said he is honored to be a part of Bobby
Abreu’s career. The great sportsman would be retiring with an awesome career of
two hundred and eighty eight homers and three hundred and ninety five on-base
percentage. Moreover, ever a patient hitter, Abreu ranks first among active
players and 20th all time in walks. The great player would be remembered for
the game he has displayed to his fans across many years.
